Raw Islam: Earliest Articles of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, 1933-1934.
Raw Islam, compiled by Alam Khan Publications, contains the first known writings of the man who would come to be known as Messenger of Allah, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
These articles begin in January of 1933, submitted as letters to The Afro-American, a Black newspaper based in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time, he was still known as Elijah Karriem, holding the title Minister of Islam.
The newspaper clippings from The Afro-American were uncovered by scholar Bilal Muhammad, whose ongoing research into the teachings and history of W.D. Fard is documented in meticulous detail on his YouTube channel, Bilal’s Boulder.
Unlike any other work attributed to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (outside of his First Term Examination answers in Lost-Found Lesson No. 2), these articles in The Afro-American were written while Master Fard Muhammad was still physically present, still able to guide, correct, and instruct him directly.
For students, historians, and believers alike, that makes this collection one of a kind. It offers a rare and previously unheard window into Master Fard Muhammad’s teachings — filtered through the pen of his most devoted student, in the earliest days when the lessons were still being written and taught for the very first time.
Following these early letters submitted to an outside paper, this collection continues with all of the articles the Honorable Elijah Muhammad wrote for his own newspaper, The Final Call to Islam. (Note: these are already shown within the compilation book The Final Call to Islam).
